Finland established diplomatic relations with Lithuania in August of 1991 after an interval of fifty years.
Finnish Embassy was opened at the same year 1.12.1991.
Embassy's tasks include, among other things:
political and trade relations
to follow the EU and NATO membership of Lithuania
neighborhood cooperation with Belarussia
to follow the social development of Belarussia (EU, European Council, OSCE, UN and its specialized organizations)
consular services, including the assistance to the Finnish citizens
to enchance the knowledge of Finland in Lithuania and to contribute the increasing knowledge of Finnish culture in Lithuania.
