Experiencing the Finnish sauna

Photo: Anton Kalland/TekesFinnish sauna, summer cottage, relaxation, holiday, vacation, Finnish Sauna Society, Mobile Sauna Festival, birch, stove, ice swimming, avanto-uinti, FinlandSauna, sun and swimming all form integral parts of Finnish summer, during which many Finns retreat to waterside cottages in the woods.

The old Finnish proverb “First build the sauna, then the house” shows how seriously Finns take this national institution. As our American reporter knows, it’s also a topic that they love to talk about.
